Grand Rapids Area-wide challenge runs April through August, where we challenge youth and organizations to take the pledge. Youth identify a community problem & submit a project they will work on over the summer. Projects aim to bridge gaps and lead to positive social impact. There are four areas of focus which include community advocacy, business, music & sports. Updates are shared on grsummerproject.org, and our community votes on the project. On-site events, media coverage, talent showcases, and special events connect projects with purpose. It brings communities, organizations, and people together for a good cause. Leading the way to both seeds & grow new ideas while connecting young talent with our local ecosystem. It is a student-led initiative and collective community effort. One that would not be possible without our partnership with organizations and individuals committed to providing this summer platform for youth voices to be heard & projects to grow.
Here we establish, leadership, community, and social innovation. Encouraging students to unlock the power of I in leading social change. We define what a change maker is and give students an introduction to the differences between Social Enterprise, Non-Profit, and For-Profit businesses. After we educate, we provide a mock business exploration project. Challenging students to create and pitch their social enterprise.
